TESTIMONIALS

"COBA camp offers the truly hoops-crazed player a development experience that goes beyond the on-court skills. Chris Oliver, one of the best teachers of basketball skills in Canada, adds the expertise of Jay Johnston, U of Windsor's strength coach, for incredible explosion training. The COBA experience is a total package with focus ONLY on basketball skills and training. My son's skill level and decision making have improved significantly over the past two summers at COBA and he raves about it being 100% basketball and not 'campy' activities. We have told all of our hoops crazed friends about this truly unique Canadian camp. If you're serious about becoming a better player, COBA is the camp!" Steve Porter

“Serious high school boys and girls basketball players looking to improve their skills should really consider attending COBA. It is different from other summer basketball camps in that the instructors are University level coaches led by Chris Oliver – Head Coach University of Windsor. The emphasis is on proper development of skills and providing the players with the proper drills and workouts to practice to keep developing skills long after the week of camp is over. The program covers on the court training, dry land (off court) training and includes presentations on proper nutrition and proper weight training techniques. In short, the camp offers excellent instruction and training to players who aspire to be much better than just an average high school player. “ Dave Bannister

Coba is hands down the finest basketball camp Jordie and her friends attend each summer. Your camp not only focuses on building the necessary basketball skills each player must possess to be successful, but you also do a great job teaching and illustrating the kids the importance of increasing their overall athletic ability. Your staff of nationally recognized coaches and trainers along with current University players, does an outstanding job of connecting with all the kids. Your lectures teach the campers not only how to achieve athletic success but you also impart very important life skills they can use for the rest of their lives. You can count on our continued support for many years to come.

“I think that COBA is a terrific camp. This camp not only teaches you basketball skills, but life skills as well. The counsellors and instructors are great. They are solely interested in making you a better basketball player, and are willing to help you out in any way possible. The competition is intense. You are able to play against all different types of players, and you meet so many new people. I absolutely loved this camp, it was hard work and it felt really good to push myself to achieve the challenges they put to you. My confidence as a basketball player really increased and I have been introduced to a whole different caliber of play. I encourage anyone who enjoys basketball to attend this camp.”

Overall, my week as a guest coach at COBA was fantastic! The camp facilities, in terms of both athletics and accommodation, are excellent and comfortable for campers and coaches alike. The entire COBA staff, beyond being extremely dedicated and technically advanced, made me feel so welcome that I felt like a long time returning coach. The leadership, and resulting advanced learning, is beyond what I've experienced as a volunteer coach at any camp. When I consider the basketball content, the way it was presented to the athletes, and just how much the players learned, I'm left with the impression that Coach Oliver, Christie, and Jay offer a camp experience that is like no other in North America, let alone Canada. As a coach, based on the challenges at COBA, I went well outside of my comfort zone and enjoyed every minute of it. Taking eight pages of notes each day was a definite bonus - notes that I have referred to many times as I prepare for my school and club seasons. My only hope is that I get to be a guest coach again - very soon! Thanks to the entire staff for an unforgettable week of learning and enjoyment!

"My week at Chris Oliver's Basketball Camp was an exciting and rewarding one. This camp provided me with a multitude of new skills, a hard workout, and added an edge to my game. Each day was packed with new activities and sessions of learning. Not only was this camp designed to further develop basketball skills, it also improves awareness of proper nutrition, provides a personal training program, and teaches many life skills necessary for a complete game."

"My experience at Chris Oliver's Basketball Camp was an excellent one. I found that my skill level noticeably increased through the techniques I learned, and the valuable lessons I was taught. I was able to dwell on a wealth of knowledge from the great coaching staff supervising the drills and games. The blend of physical, mental, and basketball training touched on all aspects of the sport, and helped me to improve my game as a whole. The entire atmosphere surrounding the camp was positive, and I felt comfortable throughout my stay. After-basketball activities were also enjoyable, and helped to ease the muscles after a long day of workouts. It was a tough, but rewarding, week of basketball and fun!"

"My week at Chris Oliver's "Passion to Improve" Basketball Camp helped me prepare for my upcoming high school season. I was impressed with the coaching and individual skills development, and the time that was taken to explain the how's and why's of doing a certain skill. The intensity of the camp was what I was looking for, with many skilled players to practice with and learn from. I enjoyed making many new friends at the camp, and came away with a better understanding of the game and the work required to become a better player. The level of detail, in all aspects of training and conditioning, is what impressed me the most. I feel very fortunate to be able to go to the camp and be with some great coaches."
